Marty McFly's life is a dump. His father, George, is constantly bullied by his supervisor Biff Tannen and his mother, Lorraine, is an overweight alcoholic. One day, Marty gets a call from his scientist friend Dr. "Doc" Emmet Brown telling Marty to meet him at Twin Pines Mall at 1:15 AM where Doc unveils a time machine that runs off of plutonium built into a DeLorean and demonstrates it to Marty. Marty accidentally activates the time machine, sending him back to 1955 where he accidentally gets in the way of his teenage parents meeting. Home BOLLYWOOD REVIEWS Malang-Unleash the Madness Review: Disha Patani and Aditya Roy Kapur are gorgeous but wicked old Anil Kapoor eats into their show Film: Malang Cast: Aditya Roy Kapur, Disha Patani, Anil Kapoor, Kunal Kemmu, Amruta Khanvilkar, Elli AvrRam Director: Mohit Suri Rating: 4 Moons Just when you thought you had seen the mother of all cop movies, Mohit Suri brings out Malang: Unleash The Madness in which Anil Kapoor is the good cop and bad cop and he’s such a rock-star he gives a kick-ass performance as both. The lead actors are Aditya Roy Kapur and Disha Patani and they are as gorgeous as the sunny skies, blue sea and golden beaches of Goa where this romantic action thriller is so breathtakingly picturised. But somehow, you will keep waiting for Anil as Inspector Anjaney Agashe of the Crime Branch to return to the screen. He sniffs cocaine in toilets then comes out and encounters drug dealers in Goan bars! Talk about a cop with attitude, swag and a blood lust. It’s a nice, sweet tale of revenge and you cannot help get the feeling that Mohit wants to reintroduce the thrill and suspense of his Murder 2 and the music and romance of his Aashiqui 2 in Malang: Unleash the Madness. The ingredients are all there. Murders are aplenty with a twist of suspense added and the romance between Disha and Aditya is sizzling hot with some terrific kissing sequences thrown in to take the heat a notch higher. There are nice songs along the way and the title track plays a couple of times but they aren’t obtrusive and in your face and leave you to concentrate on the romance and action instead. And of that, there is plenty. Also shown for real is the rave party scene in Goa in which our lead pair merge so naturally. RECOMMENDED READ: 'Malang' Disha Patani proves she is one of the hottest actresses in Bollywood! Of the performances, Disha is all long legs and lovely sun-kissed body with an innocent and trusting face while Aditya, who for once gets a gritty action role, with unkempt hair and unshaven look is perfect as her love interest. That’s the first half of the film when they are beach bums staying in a hippy commune without a care in the world, doing drugs, smoking and drinking (the statutory warning never leaves the screen), hopping from one party to another, facing their fears and living their dreams until it all goes horribly wrong. Watch Disha and Aditya have a detailed conversation here: That revenge is a dish best had cold comes out deliciously in the plot five years later. And there’s a killer twist in the tale at the end but somehow you were expecting it because all the world loves a lover and you know some knots are still left untied in writer Aseem Arora’s story. But in between the start and end, there’s also Anil and Kunal Kemmu as another bad apple in the Goa Police. Here’s another hugely talented performer whose last couple of films didn’t showcase what fabulous work he’s capable of giving. Malang couldn't fetch more attention since the trailer launch due to its dark theme. As we all know Indian audience doesn't have large fanbase or viewers for this genre where you have spend 2 hours in cinema hall without a single laughter and light moments. Directed by Mohit Suri, Malang is another dark film in his filmography with the same old love angle he had in his previous films but the Revenge is different and exciting this time.
Malang is a romantic action thriller which tells a story of mad into love couple- Advait (Aditya Roy Kapur) and Sara (Disha Patani. Sara wants to live her life with an unusual philosophy and wild thinker Advait is convinced by her thinking to join her in this journey of madness. While they both fall in Love in short time, the sadness and crisis too take place in this short period. Causing to this are cops played by Kunal Khemu, Prasad Jawade, Vatsal Sheth and Keith Sequeira. The other most important guy is Encounter Specialist Mr. Agashe played by Anil Kapoor and whose side he choose is the suspense you gonna enjoy towards the end.
Coming to the performances level of the cast, Disha Patani finally gets a big and worthy role in her career. She looks super Hot and people will be falling after her hot Avatar after watching this film. Aditya Roy Kapur stands 2nd best in the film and also gives 2nd best performance of his career till date. Anil Kapoor as Agashe is totally different, ruthless but irritating at some occasions. Micheal played by Kunal Khemu is a surprise package in this thriller and Amruta Khanvilkar has got little to do as his Wife Tereda. Eli Avram in side role and rest of the cast is decent to good and doesn't get much of screen space.
Malang is a combo of Wild Romance, Thrill and Action but the mixture isn't shaken well. What works- Acting, Music and the basic motive of story. What goes wrong is the pace of the screenplay and execution. Almost all songs are situational in this Musical journey and all songs are soulful. Cinematography is fantastic, especially in those scenes when Advait and Sara discovers nature and fulfill thier dreams of outcrossing fear. Action sequences are good and Aditya Roy Kapur finally shows his muscle power & machoism.
Director Mohit Suri seems off form since his last hit film Ek Villain. The reasons could be that typical storytelling from old school and i feel he needs to update himself according to the audience taste. Malang could have been a better film if he had not wasted much time in building characters and get to the thrilling mode quickly. A combo of an unusual philosophy of life and usual love story+revenge doesn't really work on high level, though it has a fulfill ending to all the aspects writer tried to unfold. Malang unleashes madness, love and revenge drama in somewhat Decent manners but unfortunately it could have got much better with this amazing cast.
Rating- 4/10.
